Ok guys, my year 12 ball is in February and I have no idea what kind of dress to have.

Suggestions or photos of yours would be totally appreciated. At this stage I have no particular colour or style preferences, anything would be helpful.

I went to three balls. Our school combines year 12 and year 13 and then I went to another schools one this year. The first year I went all out and got a really expensive dress and it was really nice but it wasn't really my taste. Then I wore a dress for my ball this year I got from trademe that was black tight on top then white and floaty on the bottom. For the other ball I wore a dress that wasn't really flash, a cocktail kind of dress but I really liked it and it fitted me really well. So I liked that one best.
So my advice is to find a dress for you not the night if you know what I mean. I can put up photos later. But yeah you have to find a dress that suits you and you really like it not one that you think is ball-like. So you don't necessarily have to go for the 'ball dresses'.
Some people made thier own dresses which turned out looking really cool so if you can that could be a good idea?
So that is my rambled advice Wink

Yeah I was planning to make one, my mum made my sister's and that was pretty.

I borrowed one for a ball this year, but in all fairness I was given three days notice Razz So I have some point of reference, because I know what I hated about that dress.

My friend's mum made my ball dress. It was copied from one that Julia Roberts wore to the Oscars, except her's was gold. My friend who is in the picture bought her dress from Lisa Ho.

Audz, you are easy because you can find a nice gothic fancy dress and you're all set. Smile

Alex you look way better than your friend and you didn't get your dress from anywhere fancy!

Here, Audrey, I found a few pics to give you inspiration Smile

A red dress with black lacing

The same dress in a more aesthetically pleasing photo

I just loved this:

I got the necklace pic from this site:
http://www.decarabia.co.uk/

The dress from this site:
http://www.uptight-clothing.co.uk/

And this is a page is a big list of heaps of other stores that sell gothic clothing:
http://www.milieux.com/goth/clothes.html

You probably didn't need any of that because you're a goth clothes expert but I like googling.

I wants that dress!

Maybe just because of how its shot in the second photo. But I'd never wear it again except around the house posing on the piano like that.

Alex I love your dress too! It looks gorgeous.

Holy crapping crap.
*jaw drops*
Hmmm...If I wear my black corset and a big skirt, I could probably improvise a black version of that...

My year 11 dress was red, straight, one shoulder and had diamontes on it.

Year 12 was deep purple, sort of a boob tube, with straps as a halter, and backless.

Ill have to find pics

This is my dress that I wore to uni balls...

Oooh pretties!
But the new principal is making us have our date's tie wrapped around our chest if we show too much cleavage, so I'd have to modify it Razz

My year 11 formal dress was a mermaid dress, made by my mum. My year 12 one I loved and I made it.

I'll post photos later.

This is my Year 12 one, I got it from a shop on the Gold Coast, I fucking love it

Me and my brother

And this one is my Modern History class, you can see the side/bottom bit better. I tried describing it to my friends, I was like "Yeah, so it's black and white checks, has a collar and pockets and is kind of loosely gathered at the sides." And they were all going RIIIIIGHT
